Just over 1,800 children will receive Angel Tree Gifts through The Salvation Army in York City this year, and it's not too late to donate more!

The fire burned itself out with damage confined to a kitchenette in the front of the building, said Chief Evan Hasko of Meadville Central Fire Department. She noted that the Salvation Army's after-school choir is scheduled to perform at 6 p.m. December 21 at the post. "But we're getting there, slowly but surely". "It is a break from what we do and see - some of the worst things in our community - to see a lesson in humanity and humility", Seguin Police Kevin Kelso said.

Also, ChipBLASTER Inc. of Meadville, a machine tool manufacturing company, has offered its Meadville-area plant as a place for The Salvation Army to sort and distribute the donated toys.

On Thursday, distribution hours will be from 9 4:30 p.m. Damage to the building was estimated at $10,000 or more. The concern we have, though, is the amount of young people coming through.

It is unknown at this time when operations can resume at the Meadville facility.

When to watch the year's best meteor shower
The Virtual Telescope Project will also host a webcast here showing live views from Italy, starting at 5 p.m. For those with early bedtimes, 7 to 8:30 p.m is a good time to watch the light show, but be sure bundle up.

Even after collecting thousands of toy donations throughout the holiday season, the Salvation Army says they still do not have enough toys to fill their need. "Our donations can go a long way toward providing food, clothing and assistance to those who need it". Monetary donations are also being accepted by staff at the trailer on site.

Bell ringers stand with their kettles in North Platte and beyond, but for a second year, the Salvation Army's annual holiday fundraiser is struggling to meet its goal.

The Salvation Army's Glenn van Gulik said the organization is trying to reach both individuals and large donors.

A trailer and heat tent will open every day from 8am to 5pm to take donations in the parking lot at 1087 Park Avenue in Meadville.
