Kulbhushan Jadhav won't be executed anytime soon, says Pakistan

"On the question regarding the visit of Mr. Jadhav's wife and mother, you are aware that we had welcomed Pakistan's offer to allow Kulbhushan Jadhav's mother and wife to meet him".

The official said although the meeting was allowed by Pakistan on purely humanitarian grounds, the gesture will help initiate peace process with India.

On Pakistan Army chief, Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa's reported advice to the country's lawmakers to work for improving ties with India, the spokesperson said New Delhi too desired good ties with all its neighbours, including Pakistan. This was confirmed by Foreign Office spokesperson Dr Mohammad Faisal in a message posted on Twitter today (Wednesday).

Reports in the Pakistani media said India's Deputy High Commissioner J P Singh would fly to India to bring Jadhav's mother and wife to Pakistan for the meeting. In this regard, Pakistan has made a decision to release two hundred and ninety-one Indian fishermen in two phases on humanitarian grounds, with the first phase on 29th of this month and the other on the 8th of next month, he remarked. Jadhav has been in the Pakistani jail since April over allegations of being an Indian spy. Jadhav, a former Indian Navy officer, was arrested in Pakistan and was charged with espionage.

Asked whether an aviation security protocol with Egypt will be signed, he said: "We expect that it will be signed". The two resorts have borne the brunt of the Russian ban, according to Egyptian media.

According to details, Jadhav 's family will come to Pakistan along with Singh. Pakistan has been claiming that its security forces arrested Jadhav from restive Balochistan province on March 3 previous year after he reportedly entered from Iran.

The ICJ has asked Pakistan to submit its response or memorial by December 13 before the court could start further proceedings in the case.

The ICJ halted his execution on India's appeal pending the final verdict by it.
