Shoppers flock to local stores for day after Christmas deals

"We just thought we would wait another day or two", she said.

But while some shoppers are making exchanges, others are calling the day after Christmas the new Black Friday.

Some shoppers remarked on what they saw as a surprisingly quiet morning at the stores - which could have been due to the increasing amount of discounts offered throughout the year that make the usual end-of-year sales less novel, perhaps, than they used to be. Both the Bay Street outdoor mall in Emeryville and Stoneridge Shopping Center in Pleasanton advertised hours from 7 a.m.to 10 p.m. on their websites.

"The after Christmas shopping, it tends to be a pretty big day for us", the Menard's general manager Bruce Mezera.

Malls in the Charlotte region were packed Tuesday as people returned gifts and hunted for post-Christmas deals. That beat the 164 million estimated shoppers expected to come during the weekend. "It's a good time to be out", said Waterbury resident Abby Desocio.

She said she shops right after Christmas every year.

The trilateral dialogue is part of Chinese President's initiative for developing cooperation between the three countries. Topics of common interests and China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) project remained under discussion in the sitting.

Shoppers spent a record-breaking $598 billion this holiday season, but it's not over yet.

Kara Hendey, of Harker Heights, was in Target shopping for grocery items, but first had to make a return. Research indicates that lenient return policies can lead to increased purchases.

Other consumers were hoping that the cold weather would thin the crowds.

Some consumers were not there to return those unwanted presents.

"I got a lot of money yesterday and a lot of gift cards", said one shopper. "I probably only got about $15 worth of gift certificates, but I've been looking to buy some things for the house and wanted to come out today where there were less people".

Ray Ristich, who manages the Zales jewelry store at Fox Valley Mall, said sales during "the lead-up to Christmas were great". DVDs, software and other electronic items can not be returned once they're opened.
