Man 'smearing feces' causes United Airlines flight to be redirected to Alaska

According to KTVA-TV, United Airlines flight 895 had to make the emergency stop at Ted Stevens International Airport in Anchorage on January 4.

United Flight 895 traveling from Chicago to Hong Kong made an unscheduled landing in Anchorage due to a "passenger smearing feces everywhere", Ted Stevens International Airport Police told CBS affiliate KTVA.

He wasn't combative with anyone and was in his seat when the flight landed in Alaska. Officials added that the unnamed passenger carried out the stunt in more than one of the flight's restrooms before taking his shirt off and trying to clog a toilet.

Gamache says the man never tried to interfere with the flight crew and isn't expected to be arrested.

In a statement, United said the unlucky passengers were put up in hotels and that the airline would be working to get them to their destinations as soon as possible.

The disruptive passenger was taken to Alaska Regional Hospital in Anchorage for a psychological evaluation but was not charged for leaving his crap behind.
