Patriots: No strife between Kraft, Belichick, Brady

Patriots: No strife between Kraft, Belichick, Brady

The story has been met with conflicting reports of inaccuracies by ESPN.

The surprising trade that took place just ahead of the National Football League trade deadline came out of nowhere.

Brady's contract talks with Kraft were reportedly somewhat controversial, and with Garoppolo rejecting contract extension offers from the Patriots, Kraft eventually demanded Belichick trade him.

Following the move, Belichick uncharacteristically explained the reasoning behind the deal suggesting that it wasn't something he wanted to do but had to do.

There are other layers in the story to peel, such as Brady's training, the trade that sent Jimmy Garoppolo to the San Francisco 49ers, how much longer Brady will continue to play, Belichick's toughness and more. But Brady nearly forcing the Patriots to stick with him, as Belichick may see it, is unsettling. But just what was the issue?

The jackpot starts at $40 million and grows a minimum of $10 million between rolls and with proceeds from ticket sales. The Mega Millions jackpot for Friday's drawing is worth $450 million, the fifth largest in the game's history .

The joint statement from Kraft, Belichick and Brady says reports in recent days "have speculated theories that are unsubstantiated, highly exaggerated and flat out inaccurate" and that the three "stand united". It is unfortunate that there is even a need for us to respond to these fallacies.

"But according to multiple sources, players openly discussed with Patriots coaches, staff and trusted advisers whether to follow Brady or the team, leaving them trapped: Do we risk alienating the NFL's most powerful coach or risk alienating the NFL's most powerful quarterback?"

Whether details in the report are true or not, this latest suggestion of a demise may be exactly what this team needs to make another Super Bowl run. Until then, it's anyone's guess as to whether the team is still together, or is breaking apart.

Just in time for the National Football League playoffs, ESPN has dropped a story about the possible end of the New England Patriots dynasty.
