Lottery jackpots combine over $1 billion this weekend

The winning numbers were 28, 30, 39, 59, 70, with the gold Mega Ball dropping at 10. The biggest Mega Millions jackpot was in 2012, when three winners split $656 million.

A single ticket in Florida won the $450 million jackpot. One Virginia ticket is worth $1 million, lottery officials announced Saturday morning.

Last time someone won the Mega Millions jackpot was October 13 and the Powerball last saw a victor October 25.

The jackpot victor can choose a cash option and receive $281 million. Tickets in California, Massachusetts, Oklahoma, Tennessee and Texas also matched five numbers.

In total, the Mega Millions drawing for Friday saw 21 million tickets sold according to CBS News.

The victor has 180 days from the date of the drawing to claim the prize and only 60 days to claim the prize as a lump sum of $281.2 million.

The odds of one person winning both jackpots is 1 in more than 88 quadrillion. The cut-off for sales is 9:58 p.m. Saturday for Powerball and 10:44 p.m. tonight for Mega Millions. Numbers will be drawn Saturday night for the seventh-largest jackpot in USA history - $570 million before taxes.
