Acer announces Swift 7 at CES 2018, world's thinnest laptop

CES showcases the tech trends that will shape the year ahead. The Acer Swift 7 will be launched in March at $1,699 (Rs 1,07,776 approx), while the Acer Spin 3 will sell for $599 (Rs 37,999 approx) starting from this month.

The new Acer Swift 7 (image above) is, according to the manufacturer, the world's thinnest laptop at 8.98 mm, part of its CES 2018 line-up.

Acer's laptop felt very light in our hands, but at 2.5 pounds, it's not the lightest 14-inch laptop on the market. Its 0.35-inch thickness is 0.04 inches less than the 2017 Swift 7, 0.06 inches less than the HP Spectre 13, a full 0.11 inches slimmer than the new Dell XPS 13 9370 and a whopping 0.17 inches thinner than the Apple MacBook. The device runs on Windows 10 operating system and offers 4605 mAh Li-ion battery, which the company claims delivers up to 12 hours of battery backup. Additionally, the laptop also comes with built-in 4G LTE connectivity, so that users can access to high-speed internet on the go. Additionally on the connectivity front, the Swift 7 also features WiFi 702.11ac 2×2 MIMO and Bluetooth support.

The Swift 7's unibody aluminum chassis is pleasing to the eye and gentle to touch, ideal for modern professionals seeking a sophisticated look.

Acer's Jerry Kao says that the company is "extremely proud" of creating the world's thinnest laptop.

The new Acer Nitro 5 notebook will begin shipping in April this year for a starting price of $799 (Rs.50,730 approx.) in the US. Powered by Windows 10, the new 15-inch laptop is targeted towards mainstream users who enjoy the thrill of gaming with friends, and building their own network of like-minded players.

Or rather, it was powered by an FX processor: the newly-announced AMD Nitro 5 is getting the Ryzen treatment.
