Carolina Panthers quarterback Cam Newton was evaluated for a concussion in Sunday's NFC Wild Card Game against the New Orleans Saints, the Panthers announced.

The Panthers could be fined as much as $150,000 if the investigation finds they didn't properly follow the league's concussion protocol. If he did indeed suffer a head injury, it would have required him to go to the locker to get examined by the team training staff to go through the concussion protocol.

The review took more than a month to conclude.

Newton took a shot to the head from Saints defensive tackle David Onyemata midway through the fourth quarter.

Third-party hardware accessory manufacturer Mad Catz is back in the game
Mad Catz seem to be squaring up against Logitech's equivalent wireless charging PowerPlay mice and mats with this model. One of Mad Catz initial downfalls was its expansive lineup of products, many of which did not perform as expected.

There's just one problem: Newton never left the sideline, instead going into the medical tent only briefly, which flies in the face of the recent update to the concussion protocol.

"We did everything the right way", Hurney said (per the Charlotte Observer).

National Football League officials have already been in contact with the Panthers' medical staff as to why Newton was not taken to the locker room when he was being evaluated for a concussion.

Newton was slow to get up and collapsed on his way back to the sideline. He sat out one play, but returned on the next series and finished the game. The league and players' union conducted probes a year ago after Newton took a hard hit to the head late in the season opener at Denver but did not come out of the game.
