Mitt Romney was 'successfully treated' for prostate cancer past year

The former GOP presidential nominee underwent successful surgery this past summer.

Romney reportedly might run for the Senate seat now held by Sen.

The former MA governor and GOP presidential nominee's prognosis is "good", CNN reported.

Romney's prognosis was described as "very good" and he was "treated successfully", according to this person, who requested anonymity because of the sensitivity of the matter.

"He was treated surgically by Dr. Thomas Ahlering at UC Irvine Hospital in California", the source said.

"Mitt Romney was treated over the summer for prostate cancer", Tapper tweeted. Orrin Hatch, R-Utah.

"Last year, [former Massachusetts] Governor Mitt Romney was diagnosed with slow-growing prostate cancer", the aide said. Romney owns homes in both states.

Romney changed his home state from MA to Utah on his Twitter account the day Hatch announced his retirement.

Romney served as governor of MA from 2003 to 2007.

Romney and President Trump have had a tumultuous relationship. Mandel was again seeking the Republican party nomination to challenge Brown in the 2018 general election, but announced Friday, Jan. 5, 2018, in an open letter that he chose to drop his bid, citing his wife's health.

During the 2016 presidential campaign, Romney called Trump "a fraud" who has "neither the temperament nor the judgment to be president", reports the Daily Mail. Since Hatch's announcement, however, Romney and Trump spoke by phone to discuss Hatch and the Senate seat, a White House official said.
