Trump mocked for not fully singing National Anthem

While Zac Brown's team didn't end up taking the title, the moment was more than enough for the singer, who later tweeted "Thank you for the honor to sing our National Anthem". Trump seemed more excited to sing along near the end of the song, according to the pool report.

"Trump sings the national anthem the way the rest of us sing 'Despacito, '" Meyers quipped after a clip of the video rolled.

"IDEA: Before spending 6 months lecturing football players about respecting the national anthem MAYBE LEARN THE WORDS", tweeted Judd Legum, editor of the lefty news outlet ThinkProgress.

The majority of Americans - 61 percent - do not know all the words to the "The Star-Spangled Banner", according to a Harris Interactive survey.

During one of his speeches, Trump even called a football player who refused to stand at attention during the performance of the United States national anthem "son of a bitch".

Trump's apparent botching of the words drew particular attention in light of his repeated attacks on black National Football League players kneeling during the anthem.

There was no such kneeling protest before the game as college players remained in their locker rooms during the anthem.

Protesters waved white towels in the stands _ the color chosen to mock how liberals are often called "snowflakes", The Washington Post reported.

Several Twitter users believed the footage was evidence that Trump doesn't actually know the lyrics to the National Anthem.

With the Super Bowl around the corner, it's likely the issue of NFL player protests will resurface on the biggest night in football.

But as we approach midterm elections and Republicans try to court black voters, Trump may have to tread carefully.

But supporters praised the president for taking the field, hand on heart.

Earlier Monday, the president repeated his call for the anthem to be respected.
