Microsoft finally adding end-to-end encryption to Skype - ish

End-to-end encryption will be provided for text messages, audio calls, as well as several types of files.

Microsoft has partnered with encrypted messaging app Signal to encrypt messages on Skype.

One of the best features of WhatsApp has been its end-to-end encryption since day one.

It is important to note that no chat content from these conversations will be displayed in the chat list, or with other notifications - in order to keep any shared information private.

Currently, the Private Conversation feature is available in the Skype Insider program, which is the platform Skype uses to test features before rolling them out to the general public. Having to do this every time on Skype would be more of headache than feature.

To The New York Times , she noted that "if anyone wants to explore their individuality, it's not right for people to tell you no". And the tweet that Beats 1 made on Twitter was the icing on top, as they quoted Elton saying , "I'd just say congratulations ".

Give it a try by selecting "New Private Conversation" from the compose menu or from the recipient's profile.

Those who really want secure communications should probably just cut out the middleman, and install Signal's app. However, Marlinspike explained that doing so would tip off everyone in a group that someone had been added, and that all end-to-end encrypted conversations up to that point in the group could not be read by the snoop anyway.
