A Pegasus airplane has skidded off the runway on Sunday after landing in the Turkish province of Trabzon, causing panic among the passengers.

New footage shows the moments after an aeroplane skidded down a cliff in northern Turkey ending its journey just metres from the waters of the Black Sea. The Pegasus Airlines flight had taken off smoothly from the capital Ankara bound for Trabzon, where the accident occurred as the plane was landing late Saturday.

Everyone on board was evacuated safely, provincial governor Yucel Yavuz said.

The incident briefly shut down flights at Trabzon Airport, which resumed activities by Sunday morning. Images show the Boeing 737-800 stuck at a downward angle on the muddy cliff that adjoins the Black Sea. "We could have burned, exploded, flown into the sea", passenger Yuksel Gordu told the Anadolu news agency.

The passengers were evacuated and no injuries were reported. "Every time I think about it, I feel I might go insane", she said.

"We tilted on the side and the front of the plane went down and the back of went up", she said.

Following this incident, none of the 162 passengers + 4 flight attendants and 2 Pilots were seriously injured. "There was panic, people shouting, screaming,". The prosecutor's office has launched an investigation.
