Riyad Mahrez hands in transfer request as Manchester City make £50m bid

Riyad Mahrez is emerging as a late transfer target for Manchester City, but Leicester City are insisting the winger is not for sale.

It is understood City have reportedly made a £55million (Dh285.5m) offer for Mahrez, although Leicester say they have not received any offers for the 26-year-old this month but their stance has not changed since last summer, when they rejected interest from Roma.

On Tuesday, the club announced that Leroy Sane will be sidelined for up to six weeks with an ankle injury after having gotten on the end of Joe Bennett's horror tackle during their 2-0 FA Cup fourth-round victory against Cardiff City on the weekend.

The Telegraph however claim that Leicester are likely to dismiss bids under £90m for the 26-year-old Algeria global. "When you have to negotiate - there are examples from the past - it's always so complicated".

However, whether Mahrez's apparent desire to move to Manchester will persuade Leicester to sell remains to be seen, with many reports prior to news of the transfer request suggesting the Foxes are in no mood to do business.

"Well, he is more experienced by far about English football, he knows English football better than me".

The counts are carried out on one night in one very specific area, so they don't take into consideration the people who are living out of public view or sofa surfing.

Mahrez became a household name during Leicester's Cinderella run to the 2015/16 Premier League title as he scored 17 goals and added 11 assists during the season.

With Brazil forward Gabriel Jesus already injured, Guardiola feels his attacking options are too stretched and that Mahrez would fill them.

"If things are not possible [with transfers] then nothing is going to happen. We have to find solutions".

However, I am told that the the most likely deal for City to do before Wednesday is for Brazilian midfielder Fred.

"I can't wait to get started over here", Harrison said.
