From there Australia's innings accelerated, as D'Arcy Short compiled a fine 36 not out, with Chris Lynn piling on 31 and Maxwell's fluent knock featuring two maximums, as he became the fourth Australian to pass 1,000 T20 worldwide runs. He scored a 40* against New Zealand and followed it up with an unbeaten 103 against England.

First T20I Australia won by seven wickets.

The visitors lost skipper Eoin Morgan to injury in the lead-up to Saturday's clash and struggled in his absence, finishing on 7-137 off their 20 overs.

Australia did not face any problem while chasing down England's total as riding on Glenn Maxwell's blistering ton, they reached home with 9 balls to spare.
