Former A-League footballer Liam Miller dies, aged 36

Miller, who was capped 21 times for the Republic of Ireland, has lost his battle with pancreatic cancer. Liam was so young, at 36-years-old.

Rio Ferdinand played alongside Miller at United, and paid his respects on Saturday afternoon.

BRENDAN RODGERS described the late Liam Miller as an "outstanding" talent who lived the Irish dream of playing for Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers yesterday spoke of Liam Miller remaining "in the memory of everyone at Celtic" following the tragic passing of the 36-year-old midfielder, who came through the ranks at the club. "Our thoughts are with his family and friends at this time", Sunderland said on Twitter.

"We have received the very sad news that Liam Miller has passed away tonight".

Former Manchester United defender Danny Higginbotham said: "RIP Liam Miller".

The Irishman went on to play 22 times for the club, and Ferguson paid tribute to his professionalism and personality in a short statement, released on United's official website.

Miller was part of the Black Cats' squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2007 but he moved again in 2009 to QPR.

Speaking about longtime collaborator Jackson (Jones produced Thriller ), the record producer also called the king of pop "greedy". He also shouts out Bruno Mars, Ed Sheehan, Sam Smith , and Mark Ronson , who " knows how to produce".

President Higgins expressed condolences to Liam's family and friends.

Having traveled the world playing football and impressed almost everywhere he went, clubs and players have been quick to pay their respects to Miller.

Kevin Doyle, who also played with Miller for the Republic of Ireland, tweeted: 'Extremely sad news. "Proud to have shared a dressing room with him over the years". I didn't know him but like the rest of the country I felt I did.

The tributes have been pouring in on social media. All our thoughts go out to them.

Beckham tweeted: "Our thoughts are with Liam's family".

'He was a quiet unassuming young man and was popular with everyone at Carrington. "Thanks a million, Liam Miller".

"And, of course, when the news filtered through last night it was terribly sad, and especially when you think of his wife and three children".
