NY state sues Weinstein Company

New York Attorney General Eric Schneiderman has filed a lawsuit against the Weinstein Company and its founders, Harvey and Bob Weinstein, alleging that they committed "egregious violations of New York's civil rights, human rights, and business laws".

The suit also alleges that TWC repeatedly broke NY state law by failing to protect its employees from Weinstein's "unrelenting sexual harassment, intimidation, and discrimination".

Weinstein, the disgraced movie mogul, was ousted from his role at The Weinstein Company a year ago after numerous reports of sexual misconduct.

Charges were filed in the New York Supreme Court and include new and "extensive" allegations against Weinstein.

Former A-League footballer Liam Miller dies, aged 36
Miller was part of the Black Cats' squad that won promotion to the Premier League in 2007 but he moved again in 2009 to QPR . BRENDAN RODGERS described the late Liam Miller as an "outstanding" talent who lived the Irish dream of playing for Celtic .

Schneiderman said the sale was "imminent" and that it could go through without giving Weinstein victims a chance to be properly compensated. The attorney general's probe remains ongoing, he said in a news release. One female employee alleged that Harvey Weinstein exposed himself to her and would touch her without consent. A second group of female employees at TWC was tasked with contacting Weinstein's sexual parters and ensuring there was space on his calendar for sexual activity, while a third group would follow up with prospective sexual conquests regarding Weinstein's employment promises.

The lawsuit also threatens to disrupt a reported $500 million sale of the company the Weinstein brothers co-founded in 2005.

Rose McGowan, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow and Cara Delevingne are among the high-profile women who have made various claims of sexual harassment, assault, and rape by Weinstein towards them; Weinstein has denied all allegations of non-consensual sex. Allegations first surfaced in October after an investigative report by the New York Times.

A spokesperson for Weinstein has not responded to BuzzFeed's request for comment.
