England and Wales Cricket Board announces 2023 Ashes venues

Gloucestershire, Durham, Glamorgan and Hampshire will host England one-day internationals at their grounds between 2020 and 2024, with the latter two also set to stage T20 internationals.

Yorkshire and Lancashire are the major beneficiaries after the European Central Bank announced the five Test venues for the visit of Australia in the 2023 Ashes series on Wednesday.

"I think that's where the future of cricket is", Hampshire chief executive David Mann told BBC South Today.

Some win, some lose and, with the confirmation of the venues for worldwide cricket for a five-year period between 2020-24, it is the big, traditional grounds that are the winners. When you combine that with our proven ability to sell out the stadium for high profile matches, this enabled us to put forward a compelling case to the European Central Bank to host regular Test Matches, a regular supply of limited over internationals and to continue as the home of the T20 Blast Finals Day over this five-year period.

"We must also recognise the thousands of supporters who come to Birmingham year after year and create the unique Edgbaston atmosphere that is celebrated throughout the game and brings out the very best in the players who have the opportunity to perform at "Fortress Edgbaston".

Second US judge blocks Trump order to end 'Dreamer' program
The US Supreme Court on Friday is due to consider whether to hear an appeal from the administration against the 9 January ruling . Trump was referring to a deadline he announced a year ago to end a program protecting young immigrants from deportation.

"Emirates Old Trafford has been a Test venue for more than 130 years and we are proud of our rich heritage and history in hosting worldwide fixtures".

While the European Central Bank has yet to officially confirm the teams that will contest the new competition, it has dropped a significant clue by announcing the venues that will stage matches from 2020-2024.

"The SSE SWALEC is a fantastic venue for worldwide cricket and we have excellent customer experience scores showing we provide fans with a 'Warm Welsh Welcome'".

The Nottingham ground was missing from the list of host venues when the England and Wales Cricket Board confirmed their schedule for the 2023 series on Thursday (AEDT).
