Fitzpatrick to return as Bucs' backup QB

The $16.5 million annual salary ranks second among National Football League wide receivers, behind only Antonio Brown of the Pittsburgh Steelers.

By the end of next season, Mike Evans will likely be the all-time leading receiver in Tampa Bay Buccaneers history.

Evans wrote on Instagram: "I'm excited to announce I will be spending the next several seasons in Tampa Bay with the Buccaneers with one goal in mind: winning a Super Bowl with my team-mates".

While Warner was charged with a Level 2 offence that could see a one-match ban, de Kock got just Level 1 charges, which should be at most a fine.

According to ESPN's Adam Schefter, Evans agreed to a $82 million extension with $55 million guaranteed. "I'm going to continue to strive for greatness on the field as well as in my community". By comparison, Antonio Brown's deal is worth $68 million with $19 million guaranteed, and he averages $17 million per year. But not only will the deal keep him signed for the next half decade, but it also will make him the second-highest paid wide receiver in the NFL.

Financial terms were not disclosed for Fitzpatrick, who appeared in six games with the Buccaneers last season and went 2-1 as a starter in place of Jameis Winston. He has topped 1,000 yards receiving every year.

The 35-year-old Fitzpatrick completed 96 of 163 passes for 1,103 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions last season. Evans also needs just three more touchdown receptions to take over the franchise's career record in that category, surpassing Jimmie Giles (34).
