Stephen Curry: Expected to remain out through weekend

The draft pick was nullified, because of gender and the league rule against drafting players out of high school, but Long spent time in San Francisco with the team. As a result, a handful of teams has scrambled to try to catch them, and another handful has decided instead to chase the future.

Golden State Warriors superstar Steph Curry rolled his ankle in the first quarter of Thursday night's game against the San Antonio Spurs.

But then the unthinkable happened.

In Thursday night's game, Curry was fouled by Spurs guard Dejounte Murray on a layup attempt two minutes into the game and came down awkwardly on his right foot.

Steve Kerr has refused to shut up and coach.

"I'm impressed with the youth movement that's going on in our country right now", Kerr said. "We still have a lot of talent".

Back in December when he was out, the Warriors tightened up their defense, Kevin Durant took over on offense, and Golden State won seven in a row.

The Spurs did make them work for it, though.

"With Steph's ankle injuries, it's always a worry", Warriors forward Draymond Green said, per ESPN. There is no timetable for his return yet, but rest assured the Warriors will be overly cautious with Curry.

It's a familiar position for this Warriors team, but one that, after the years Curry spent dealing with one of these sprains after another, both he and the Warriors had hoped was in the past. When the fourth quarter began, the Spurs held an 87-78 lead.

Golden State next plays on Friday in Portland, the second game of a back-to-back. In 2016, Curry's ankle and knee injuries left them vulnerable, and the Cleveland Cavaliers were able to exploit that in the Finals to complete one of the great comebacks in National Basketball Association history.

The Golden State Warriors are 9-1 straight up and 5-5 against the spread over their last 10 games including a current stretch of six straight wins.

"It's great to hear that he's OK and he'll be fine sometime soon", Green added.

LaMarcus Aldridge scored 30 points to lead the Spurs, who were without a star of their own after starting center Pau Gasol sprained the AC joint in his right shoulder late against Memphis on Monday. But he didn't get much help.

The Warriors visit the Portland Trail Blazers tonight, and will take on the Minnesota Timberwolves on Sunday. Klay Thompson talked about feeling some soreness in his hip after the game. To keep those "off nights" from hurting them in the postseason, they need to forget about being the No. 1 seed.
