Red-Hot Ronaldo Fires Real Madrid Past Eibar

Sergio Ramos went missing for about 10 minutes in the latter stages of Real Madrid's La Liga game against Eibar on Saturday.

Ronaldo almost doubled Real's lead just before the break but goalkeeper Marko Dmitrović produced a superb to keep out Portuguese's effort from distance.

The hosts pegged Madrid back to level terms when Ivan Ramis scored shortly after the break.

Real Madrid have only won three of their last nine league away games (D4 L2), failing to score in three them.

The win leaves Madrid third in La Liga, four points behind Atletico Madrid and 12 points off Barcelona at the top of the table.

Ronaldo couldn't poke a 54th minute shot with the outside of his boot on target following some good build-up play, while Modric probably should have passed to an unmarked Ronaldo at the back post after breaking through the Eibar defence, and pulling his shot just wide.

The 33-year-old's tally for club and country this season stands at 35 goals in 37 appearances.

Nerve agent WAS used to poison Russian spy and his daughter
Salisbury District Hospital's director of nursing Lorna Wilkinson said Mr Bailey was in a serious but stable condition. But the possibility that the nerve agent may have been in Mr Skripal's home would further complicate that search.

Gareth Bale started up front alongside the Portuguese, while Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, fit enough only to come off the bench in midweek, returned.

Eibar should have put themselves ahead 14 minutes from the end when Escalante nodded the ball to Takashi Inui and he headed well over from close range.

Los Blancos were forced into a first-half change as Nacho replaced Raphael Varane, who sustained a knock to the head in the 28th minute.

Ronaldo put the European champions ahead in the 34th minute following a lovely pass from Luka Modric.

Bale had a chance to restore Real's lead in the 63rd minute but his header sailed inches wide of the upright.

Madrid coach Zinedine Zidane sent on Karim Benzema and Lucas Vazquez to look for the victor.

Keylor Navas then had to be at his best in the 19th minute, tipping Kike's 20-yard effort just past the post.
