Valencia forward Rodrigo sent Spain ahead in the sixth minute of the global friendly, before Thomas Muller equalised for the world champions in the latter stages of the first period.

"I think it was a very good test for both teams because both teams combine well when they have possession", said Germany coach Joachim Loew. At 33, Iniesta gave the Germany midfield a masterclass during the first 45 minutes, moving the ball at ease with silky passes at the heart of Spain's attack.

"Both teams will have more to show by the time the World Cup comes around". Germany were punished for living dangerously as Spain dominated the early exchanges.

Mats Hummels was at fault for the opening goal, leaving too much space for Iniesta to tuck the ball behind the German defence for Moreno to score.

"We played against the best of the world champions at (their) home. We had a good match, with chances to win it, although they also had chances of their own", Lopetegui told reporters. "My players put into practice everything that we planned for this match. We must be mentally strong and we have no other choice but to play our best football on Tuesday".

"The first 20 minutes belonged to the Spanish, after that we played well", said Kroos. These two teams are among the bookies' favorite to lift the FIFA World Cup in Russian Federation this summer and we all witnessed a preview of what could be a likely final.

"We had Busquets out, but Thiago stepped up and played really well after some time away", he continued.
