'Spider-Man' release date announced, not coming to Xbox, says Insomniac Games

The game is an open-world adventure and features a lot of classic Spider-Man enemies.

Insomniac announced the release date alongside the box art, details of DLC, and what's in the game's Digital Deluxe and Collector's Editions.

Insomniac's Spider-Man game for PlayStation 4 is one of the most anticipated games of 2018.

The standard edition of Spider-Man will be available both physically and digitally for United States $59.99 / CDN $79.99 MSRP. The cover art for Marvel's Spider-Man is gorgeous and feels reminiscent of the Superior Spider-Man costume. "Spider-Man" for PS4 will come out on September 7. You can now pre-order the digital Standard Edition or the Digital Deluxe Edition from the PlayStation Store.

Speaking of looks, we learn that Peter Parker will be able to craft his own alternate suits, and they're a mix of outfits inspired by comics, film, and original designs.

After months off the radar, Insomniac comes in swinging with a Spider-Man release date.

But fans of the Marvel films needn't fret: it's much of the same in terms of the game's plot.

A common trend in the video game industry is for a company like Sony or Microsoft to purchase timed exclusivity for a game in order to promote the console it is tied to. Until now the details have been scarce but that seems to be ending soon because recently GameInformer announced that their story for the May 2018 issue of the magazine is all about Spider-Man. Because of this, we recommend waiting until the full statue is revealed before purchasing the Collector's Edition.

In a separate scene we see Spider-Man mixing and matching his attacks, combining some of his web shots with gadgets he's acquired, one of which electrocutes one of his foes. Also for all the latest from Marvel Games, be sure to follow them on Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook!
