IPL 2018 7th Match: Sunrisers defeat Indians in last-ball thriller

The cheapest over in the Powerplay cost 10 runs, and Mumbai's 84 was their best score after six overs in the IPL.

Yet another game went down to the last over and yet again, Mumbai Indians (MI) were at the receiving end of the pulsating action.

Three games and three losses for Mumbai who will hope to break their duck when they host Royal Challengers Bangalore on the 17th.

Delhi, on the other hand, also possess top batsmen but they too haven't been able to perform to their potential till now. Delhi have a quality team and with players like Gautam Gambhir, Glenn Maxwell, Chris Moris, there is talent and quality and the team just has to believe in themselves. Whereas, Delhi never had a chance of holding the trophy and is gunning to win the coveted title under veteran opener Gautam Gambhir's guidance.

Brief Scores: Mumbai Indians 194/7 (Suryakumar Yadav 53, Evin Lewis 48, Daniel Christian 2-35) lost to Delhi Daredevils 195/3 (Jason Roy 91*, Rishabh Pant 47*, Krunal Pandya 2-21) by seven wickets. There is not much depth in their batting after Rohit Sharma gets out hurriedly. Shami has bowled two expensive overs till now. Roy led with a stunning knock, but despite losing only three wickets, Delhi Daredevils ended up needing 11 runs off the final over to be bowled by Mustafizur Rahman. Kishan smashes a boundary, looking to hit every ball for a boundary.Ishan Kishan out! And after three Mumbai still remained wicket-less. But as they say - you never know in the game of cricket, we shall wait and watch who triumphs.

Markande, however, has lacked adequate support from the other bowlers - pacers Mustafizur Rehman, Jasprit Bumrah, Pradeep Sangwan and Krunal. Over the years, Mumbai has been guilty of being poor starters in the tournament.

The West Indies southpaw, who hasn't really announced his arrival this season with paltry scores of naught and 29 in the first two matches, spent over two hours in the nets constantly dispatching the white ball into the stands. With MI's opening partnerships being 7 and 11 in the first two games, they gambled sending Yadav to open the innings with Lewis and he adapted well to the situation. In his next over, Tewatia foxed Lewis by floating up a googly and drawing the mis-hit that was caught at mid off. Boult opens the attack for DD. Mumbai lost both games against CSK and SRH by 1 wicket in the last over.

Despite departure of Gambhir (15) in the sixth over with total on 50, Roy kept the team in the chase in the first in the company of young Rishabh Pant and then Shreyas Iyer.
