Sakshi Malik begins with a win, Vinesh Phogat in action later

So far, India have three gold, three silvers and two bronze medals at the 2018 Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast.

Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat has won gold in the Women's 50kg freestyle category at the 21st Commonwealth Games in Gold Coast. It was enough for Vinesh to become the first female wrestler in CWG 2018 to win the gold medal especially after Glasgow 2014 gold medallist and her cousin Babita Kumari Phogat settled for silver medal and Rio Olympics 2016 bronze medallist Sakshi Malik finished with bronze in the ongoing edition of Commonwealth Games.

Young gun Anish Bhanwala, only 15-year-old won the gold in the 25m Rapid Fire Pistol Men's Finals.

Although, Olympic bronze medalist Sakshi Malik faced a defeat against Aminat Adeniyi of Nigeria 3-6 in 62kg freestyle wrestling.

She ended at the top of the standings at the end of the Nordic (round robin) format. It was her good defence right at the end that helped Malik get her first major worldwide medal since the 2016 Olympics.

Indian wrestlers once again made the nation proud on Saturday in Common Wealth Games 2018 (CWG) by bagging more gold for the country.

Somveer missed out on the gold medal bout after losing to Pakistan's Muhammad Inam, who went on to win gold, which was Pakistan's first gold at this edition of the Games.

Somveer won a bronze in the men's 86kg category after prevailing over Alexander Moore of Canada.
