First poster and trailer for Crazy Rich Asians

With Fresh Off the Boat's Constance Wu and newcomer Henry Golding joining the cast as Rachel and Nick, respectively, Crazy Rich Asians started filming in the spring of 2017.

While that's great, I think it says something if we can only picture Asians in something from another time.

Rachel, not backing down easy, confronts the tension by the end of the trailer.

"You really should've told me you're like the Prince William of Asia", Rachel tells her boyfriend.

After discovering how "crazy rich" her boyfriend's family was, Rachel becomes enthralled with - and then eventually caught up in - their glamorous lifestyle. As Rachel's friend Peik Lin (Awkwafina) exclaims, "Rachel, he's like the Asian Bachelor!".

"I know this much".

Stolen Mace found by Passerby under Bridge
At about noon on Wednesday, some hoodlums stormed the Upper House, disrupted proceedings and snatching the mace from the chamber. After the incident and the ensuing uproar, the senator was taken into police custody but was later released.

The upcoming film is incredibly exciting not only because of the prominently Asian cast, but also because we know that it nearly didn't happen this way.

It quickly turns Rachel into the talk of the town and a fish out of water as she tries to navigate social niceties with her less-than-welcoming possible future mother-in-law and other characters of Asia's high society.

The trailer highlights the challenges that Rachel experiences trying to fit into Nick's life in Singapore, mainly the unsubtle hostility and disapproval of his mother Eleanor Sung-Young, played by the legendary Michelle Yeoh.

"You can choose love, but you can't choose family".

Co-starring Gemma Chan, Awkwafina, Sonoya Mizuno, Chris Pang, and Ken Jeong, Crazy Rich Asians arrives in theaters on August 17.
