Militants from Pakistan responsible for Mumbai 26/11 attacks: Nawaz Sharif

Former Pakistan prime minister Nawaz Sharif has for the first time publicly admitted that Pakistani terrorists were involved in the 26/11 attacks while questioning why Ajmal Kasab and nine others "were allowed to cross the border" to carry out the carnage in Mumbai in 2008.

In an interview to Pakistan's Dawn Newspaper, Mr. Sharif questioned the policy of allowing the non-state actors to cross the border and kill people in Mumbai.

"Explain it to me", he continued "Why can't we complete the trial?"

While the World Bank promptly responded to the NAB move and stated that "the report does not include any mention of money laundering nor does it name any individuals", the State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) said the estimates showed in the WB report were based on "assumptions" which did not reflect the reality. Sharif asked, referring to the masterminds of the Mumbai massacre that nearly brought India and Pakistan to war.

Justice (r) Javed Iqbal did not issue any explanation regarding the "flawed" probe, it said, adding that the press release raised fingers over the credibility of the institution. One of them was caught and hanged.

He said that "We have isolated ourselves".

On November 26, 2008, 10 Pakistani terrorists came to Mumbai via the sea route and unleashed havoc on hapless victims, a lot of them Indians, while some were Americans and Israelis, at different places - CST railway station, Taj Hotel, Trident Hotel, Leopold Cafe and Chabad House. Despite the sacrifices, nobody accepts our point.

Chief Minister Punjab Shehbaz Sharif on Saturday said that Pakistan today is a progressive, tolerant and peaceful country, Radio Pakistan reported. Afghanistan's narrative is being accepted, but ours is not. "President (Vladimir) Putin has said it. President Xi (Jinping) has said it". It must stop. There should be only one government, which has been elected through the constitutional process'.

In April this year, Supreme Court had ruled that Nawaz Sharif is disqualified from holding public office for life under the constitution.
