Afghanistan security forces battle attack on government building

Multiple blasts hit the eastern Afghan city of Jalalabad today (May 13) in a coordinated attack that killed six people and wounded dozens, police said.

Attahullah Khogyani, the spokesman for the governor of Nangarhar province, said a suicide vehicle bomb exploded outside the building, which belongs to the provincial finance directorate.

A gun battle ensued between Afghan security officials and the militants, according to Al Jazeera.

"I then saw at least two armed attackers entering the building".

Khogyani further added that the attack was carried out a by group of eight militants with at least two of them detonating their explosives near the Customs Department at around 12:30 pm local time. It was the latest deadly violence to strike Afghanistan as militant groups step up attacks and US-backed Afghan forces intensify air strikes and ground offensives.

Lethal Weapon Season 3 Renewed With Seann William Scott Replacing Clayne Crawford
The series' ratings were enough to score a renewal, however the behavior of Clayne Crawford put the show in jeopardy. Lethal Weapon is now the only show produced outside of Fox counterpart 20th TV on the network's 2018-19 roster.

The militant attack is the latest in a series across Afghanistan this year.

There was no immediate claim of responsibility.

The Taliban and IS have made clear their intention of disrupting the elections.

Most have been in the capital Kabul, but in January gunmen attacked an office of aid group Save the Children in Jalalabad, killing at least five people and wounding 25 in an attack claimed by Islamic State that followed much the same pattern as Sunday's incident.
