Puel rues Leicester's poor game management in thrilling Spurs defeat

They could finish third if they beat Leicester on Sunday in their final league game at the national stadium and Pochettino will enjoy their success before plotting a Premier League title challenge for 2018-19.

But Erik Lamela scored twice either side of having the shot that a luckless Christian Fuchs diverted into his own goal, before Harry Kane netted the victor after Vardy's second had levelled the score at 4-4.

Heading into the final day of league games, Spurs could not finish above third and wanted to avoid dropping down to fourth, with Liverpool ready to take advantage.

Kane's two goals took his tally to 30 for the season but the striker fell two goals short in his pursuit of a third successive Golden Boot that was clinched by Liverpool forward Mohamed Salah. Lucas Moura won the ball high up the pitch and released Kane, who raced in on goal and shot past Eldin Jakupovic at the near post.

Kelechi Iheanacho's stunner put Leicester two clear just after halftime but it provoked a furious Spurs response in which Erik Lamela struck twice either side of an own goal by Christian Fuchs who deflected Lamela's shot in off his knee. @HKane cuts inside his man and curls a handsome effort into the far corner to score his second of the afternoon!

And Pochettino's side made no mistake as they ran out 5-4 winners in a insane game against Leicester City at Wembley.

With the scores level at 4-4, Vardy slammed in an equaliser for Leicester after a deft pass by Mahrez.

Leicester's lead was at two for just two minutes.

It was his 40th goal of the season, the most by a Spurs player since Clive Allen bagged 49 in the mid-1980s.

- Riyad Mahrez has assisted seven of Jamie Vardy's Premier League goals this season - no player has assisted another on more occasion during this campaign.

- Kane has reached 30 Premier League goals for the first time in his career - the first Englishman to do so since Kevin Phillips in 1999-2000 (also, 30).

- Indeed, the England hitman has scored 11 goals in his last 12 Premier League games against the big six - finding the net in nine of those games.
