National Weather Service warns of hail, flood risks Monday in Will County

A flood watch is in effect in south central Pennsylvania from Thursday afternoon through Friday evening, says the National Weather Service.

The flash flooding "may continue to worsen", the weather service said.

At 9 p.m. Monday, the Root River Canal was at 9.99 feet high, while the flood stage is 9 feet.

Many roads were flooded, the weather service said.

A flood watch also was issued for the Fox River, which the Weather Service reports could affect Racine County.

New rainfall totals will range from one to three inches which may lead to flooding of low lying areas and along streams and rivers.

According to Allegheny County, flash flooding has made Valley Drive at Library Road, Route 88, impassable in Bethel Park.

Minor flooding is occurring on the Similkameen River near Nighthawk, and major flooding is forecast for later in the week. At 10:00 p.m. Sunday the stage was 6.2 feet and falling.

Over in northern Idaho, Lake Pend Oreille (pawn'-duh-ray) is expected to reach flood stage on Thursday.
