Harvey Weinstein to be arrested in NY on Friday

The officials say the charges relate to related to a former actress, Lucia Evans, who said Weinstein assaulted her in his NY offices in 2004.

He was then charged with rape, a criminal sex act, sex abuse and sexual misconduct for incidents involving two separate women. Weinstein has previously denied wrongdoing, asserting that he believes any sexual encounters he engaged in were consensual.

The charges followed a months-long investigation that involved the Manhattan district attorney's office.

Weinstein was charged after a seven-month investigation in NY and more than 20 years of alleged misconduct.

Not too hard, though, because Mr. Weinstein is reportedly planning on pleading not guilty to the charges.

Weinstein was sacked from his company and expelled from the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and Producers Guild of America following detailed allegations of harassment and abuse published by The New York Times and The New Yorker in October.

Weinstein is expected to surrender to authorities on Friday morning.

Ambra Battilana Gutierrez participated in an investigation of Weinstein and recorded him repeatedly asking Gutierrez asking her to watch him shower.

Clad in a blue sweater and black suit jacket, Weinstein was shuffled past the hordes of paparazzi-a memorable scene in its parallels to the all too familiar scrutiny women have faced while walking past men on sidewalks around the world.

Democratic leaders in Congress said they heard no evidence in a classified briefing on Thursday to substantiate Trump's claim. Rudy Giuliani serves as Donald Trump's legal adviser but said he hasn't spoken to him in a couple of weeks.

According to several u.s. media, the accusation of sexual assault would come from Lucia Evans, a woman who has testified publicly in the past that Weinstein had forced them in 2004 to give him a blowjob.

Inside he was expected to have his mugshot and fingerprints taken, before being taken to a Manhattan court, where The New York Times reports that he will put up $1 million in cash and agree to wear a monitoring device.

Weinstein was released on $1 million bail, with constant electronic monitoring and a ban on travelling beyond NY and CT.

"I said, over and over, 'I don't want to do this, stop, don't, ' " she told the magazine.

"I came of age in the '60s and '70s, when all the rules about behavior and workplaces were different", the 66-year-old said in a freaky statement in October that apologized for yet appeared to justify his behavior.

The criminal charge against the film producer would be the first since scores of women began coming forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct. He agreed to electronic monitoring and to stay within NY and CT. His travel will be restricted and he will surrender his passport, The New York Times reported.

The public allegations against Weinstein helped prompt a broad public furor about sexual misconduct.

Brafman did not immediately return a message from the AP on Wednesday but told The Wall Street Journal that he had met with federal prosecutors "in an attempt to dissuade them from proceeding".
