Man United, Arsenal strike early in transfer window

Former Brazil worldwide Rivaldo believes current national star midfielder Fred will shine for new club Manchester United, although he warned the player will need time to settle.

British media reported that United will pay Shakhtar about £52 million for the 25-year-old, who is in Brazil's squad for the World Cup in Russian Federation.

The Brazil global has agreed a five-year contract and will join up with his new team-mates after the World Cup.

"Like any other player when you move to a new country, he will need a little bit of time to adapt".

The Brazilian was a key man in the Shakhtar Donetsk side and won the Ukrainian Premier League title on three occasions for the club.

Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho is hoping Serbia make an early exit from the World Cup so Nemanja Matic can have a holiday.

Fred becomes the first major summer signing by United boss Mourinho, who is also reportedly closing in on a deal for Porto defender Diogo Dalot.
