Pancakes to burgers: IHOP suffers backlash in name change

However, in its most recent press release, IHOP noted that "IHOb" is a slogan of IHOP and the name change is just "for the time being".

IHOP - er, IHOb - has gone all-in on the name change in terms of its online marketing platforms before the "b" in the new name was revealed.

The company said the secret would be revealed this morning.and it's official.

The move sent pancake breakfast lovers into a furore and sparked snarky broadsides from rivals already deeply rooted in the hamburger business.

Starting Monday, you can order one of seven burgers at IHOb restaurants across the country. Most internet users excited to try the new burgers and other's still knocking the chain and whole campaign.

Last week IHOP tweeted that it was changing its name to IHOb.

Mexico to impose tariffs on $3B in USA products
And it will put tariffs on some larger ticket items such as sailboats, washing machines, dish washers and lawn mowers. U.S. denim, bourbon, motorcycles, peanut butter, motor boats and cigarettes will cost more in Europe as a result.

"I thought the b stood for breakfast. We're always going to be IHOP", he said moments after saying they weren't IHOP.

Some dismayed fans just could not understand the need for it.

The American chicken chain put IHOP on blast by showing example sketches of what they could change their name too, but in the caption, they opted to "stay true to our roots". That's why the Taste of Home Test Kitchen let out a collective gasp when beloved pancake purveyor IHOP announced that it was changing its name.

"Obviously, IHOP-hob wanted to be known for something other than breakfast or the place you pull off the highway to go to the bathroom", he said.

Not really. Rebelez said IHOP will remain family-focused, while Applebee's will still be a place to go with friends to get a beer and watch a game.

It's unclear how long the new name will be used, though the company URL remains the same. (We all promptly fell in love.) In 1973, the company began using the acronym "IHOP", and for 50-ish years, the acronym and the restaurant lived in pancake harmony.
