The Duchess of Sussex has arrived in Cheshire, where she is joining the Queen for a day of engagements. A low and slow curtsy is recommended for addressing the monarch. And according to royal correspondent Emily Andrews, Buckingham Palace has confirmed that the duchess's earrings are a gift from her new grandmother-in-law.

All eyes were on the duchess as she passed another royal milestone, joining the Queen for an event without her husband for the first time. Certainly intent on not putting a foot wrong, and she spent all of her time watching the queen, watching what the queen was doing and taking her lead from the queen. Prince Philip always walks three paces behind her, a protocol the Duchess followed throughout the day. "Meghan sent a handwritten thank you note to all her close friends who attended the wedding".

Ms James said the Queen was similarly beaming with smiles when she carried out her first joint engagement with the Duchess of Cambridge.

The new Duchess of Sussex was allowed to get in to a waiting auto BEFORE Her Maj, breaking centuries-old tradition.

Though it's Meghan's first engagement without Prince Harry, she does have the queen by her side, giving her the royal seal of approval and showing once more that the new duchess is being welcomed to the family. But never her pet name Lillibet, which is reserved for very close family and friend'.

So, does the Queen have a soft spot for Meghan?

A move to Canada might appeal to Meghan, who lived in Toronto for six years from 2011 while filming her role on TV legal drama Suits. "At one point they chuckled together like naughty schoolgirls".

"She walked up the aisle on her own without batting an eyelid".

They then will travel to Chester to open the Storyhouse, a library, theatre and cinema complex in the city, and to watch a dance performance and listen to songs performed by local schoolchildren before having lunch at the town hall.

Both experts however, agree on one thing: The Queen is obviously very fond of Meghan Markle.
