Mainz Confirm Yoshinori Muto Is Newcastle United Bound

It has been another summer of frustration and false promises for Newcastle but fortunately Rafael Benitez has a habit of making something out of nothing.

Newcastle United finished 10th last season in England's top division.

Japan forward Yoshinori Muto is set to join Newcastle United from Mainz after the clubs struck a deal and the player agreed terms and had a medical, the Premier League team said on Friday.

If Muto signs it would bring the number of 2018 summer transfer deals completed by Newcastle to five.

Newcastle also look set to lose forward Aleksandar Mitrovic in the coming days as he nears a permanent move to Fulham.

Gayle struggled in the Premier League, however, scoring just twice last season.

Rondon scored seven goals and provided three assists for West Brom last season, finishing as joint top-scorer alongside Jay Rodriguez.

We understand the Venezuela worldwide has a £16.5m release clause in his contract and Newcastle boss Rafa Benitez sees him as a replacement for Aleksandar Mitrovic.
