Torreira Confirms Arsenal Move Ahead of Medical

Arsenal are closing in on the double signing of Uruguay midfielder Lucas Torreira and France Under-20 worldwide Matteo Guendouzi, Press Association Sport understands.

Two-time former champions Uruguay will take on 1998 World Cup winners France in Nizhny Novgorod on Friday.

The Gunners are poised to get Lucas Torreira after a €30 million deal was agreed with Serie A side Sampdoria, and the Italian club's president also said that Torreira is being sold.

Lucas Torreira's father told Fox Sports Argentina.

"Arsenal offered to do the medical examinations in Russian Federation but we decided against it because we felt it was inconvenient, it is not the right time".

"I was very happy to leave for Uruguay with my team-mates", Torreira told Telenoche, having helped his nation reach the quarter-finals in Russian Federation.

Withholding support for Cramer could be a fairly low-stakes political move for the network. The brothers are bailing on Republicans who don't meet their ideological purity test.

"It is all done in a draft and only missing the arrival of Lucas to England", he added.

Arsenal are expected to complete a deal to sign the player from Sampdoria and wanted to speed up the process by carrying out a medical in Russian Federation, something that is very common during worldwide tournaments.

Once Torreira has completed a medical, he will become Arsenal's fourth signing of the summer transfer window.
