Deputy shoots man who fired gun over sold-out Ice Cube concert

In addition to the Ice Cube concert, the venue's schedule included a full day of races.

Ice Cube was scheduled to perform at the next-to-last day of the 2018 racing season at the Del Mar Fairgrounds in San Diego on Sunday (September 3), and a shooting took place at the box office.

The San Diego County Sheriff's Department said a man fired his gun near the race track at about 7pm and a deputy returned fire. The concert drew a crowd so large the area to the west of the grandstand was filled to capacity.

There was also reportedly a concert being held at the Del Mar fairgrounds tonight, but its unclear if the shooting occurred there.

A video of the shooting that was posted on Twitter records the sounds of several shots being fired before a man falls to the ground. A man in a black and white uniform with a walkie-talkie on his belt was then shown trying to restrain another man.

Apple set to launch its new iPhones on September 12
Scheduled to start at 10AM, rumour has it that the event might see the launch of three new iPhones . Hours after that company sent out invites for its hardware event, its new iPhone XS devices leaked.

Commentators could be heard screaming "there's gunfire at the track" as the race took the place.

A spokesman at Del Mar Racetrack has since said the situation was "contained".

A video posted to social media appeared to show a deputy firing four shots at a man who collapsed in front of a ticket window as bystanders exclaimed.

Broadcasters calling a race live can be heard shouting, "There is gunfire at the track, there is gunfire at the track", immediately after a race ends. In light of the circumstances that unfolded involving one individual with a gun, we take consolation in the fact that no patrons, officers or security personnel were injured in the incident.
