Foles to open season for Super Bowl champion Eagles

Foles to open season for Super Bowl champion Eagles

Nick Foles will reportedly start at quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles in the team's 2018 season opener against the Atlanta Falcons next week, according to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport. But, Philadelphia made a decision to start Foles because it thought it would be better for Wentz long term, the report says. He threw for 971 yards and six touchdowns in the playoffs.

Foles, who steered the Eagles to victory over the New England Patriots in the National Football League showpiece game in February, has faced an uncertain future with first choice quarterback Carson Wentz having recently returned to training. Wentz has been doing some work during camp but has still not yet been cleared for contact.

Third body found after boat collision at California-Arizona border
The head-on collision of two recreational boats on the Colorado River Saturday has left four people missing and 12 others injured. On Saturday night, authorities had to temporarily halt the search because it was too risky to put divers into the dark waters.

Foles stepped in as the Eagles' starter after Wentz went down with the injury.

Australian rookie punter Cameron Johnston, after a strong pre-season, is also expected to make the Eagles. After all, if there is any team in the league that can feel comfortable starting its backup quarterback, it's the one whose backup just took them to the Super Bowl.
