Seattle Seahawks turn down second-round pick offer from Dallas Cowboys

After holding out through the entire preseason, All-Pro safety and rumored Cowboys trade target Earl Thomas is reporting to the Seattle Seahawks ahead of their first regular season game.

Thomas posted to Instagram on Wednesday morning, saying he's never let his "teammates, city or fans down as long as I have lived and don't plan to start this weekend". Thomas' reaction to the lack of a resolution was clear in his post: "The disrespect has been noted and will not be forgotten".

The Seahawks practice at 2 p.m. on Wednesday, and if Thomas is present on the field, the Cowboys and other teams will have to wait until his contract is complete at the end of the season before taking another shot at the Seattle legend.

Thomas wrote on Instagram, accompanied by a picture of himself in the Seahawks' weight room, that: "I worked my whole life for this...."

The pressure is on the Cowboys now to make the Seahawks an offer they would accept, and so far, that hasn't happened.

NFL Network Insider Ian Rapoport said during a TV broadcast Tuesday night that Dallas offered Seattle a third-round pick, but that the Seahawks wanted "a second-rounder and change". He urged that the team either pay him or trade him to a team willing to commit to him long-term.

The Cowboys were content to stay put while Thomas refused to take part in Seattle's offseason program. Seattle wasn't interested; it wants more.
