Mercedes-Benz reveals 2020 EQC

Mercedes-Benz reveals 2020 EQC

This is the first Mercedes model from the company's new EQ electric sub-brand to be revealed, and the first of what will be a total of 10 EQ models to be launched by 2022. To reduce power consumption, the front electric motor is optimized for efficiency in the low to medium load range, while the rear e-motor adds sportiness. Audi says its e-Tron can fully recharge (95 kWh) in only 30 minutes on a special 150-kilowatt charging system around which it was designed, meaning it can recover range 69 percent faster than the Mercedes can.

But the big question these days is distance between charges and here the EQC's 80kWh lithium-ion battery is said to offer a range of over 450km when measured on the NEDC cycle, which may not be all that realistic however.

While Mercedes-Benz has launched its electric SUV now, there are already some early birds like Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace.

Production of the EQC will start in 2019 at the Mercedes-Benz plant in Bremen, Germany.

The EQC softens its higher-riding proportions with sporty curves and a distinctive full-width rear light, while the interior resembles that of the Mercedes C-Class - a reminder of economies of scale that electric-only Tesla can not match.

All EQC's are equipped with a water-cooled onboard charger (OBC) with a capacity of 7.4 kW, making it suitable for fast AC charging at home or at public charging stations.

Trump to Bloomberg: Sessions' job is safe until at least November elections
He charged that Mueller's probe was "highly conflicted" and that "real corruption goes untouched". But on Thursday, the president said that Sessions is safe - at least until the election.

According to Mercedes, the EQC is classed as a crossover SUV. EQ stands for Electric Intelligence, and will be applied to future electric models. Upon its arrival in a showroom, in Stockholm, Sweden, this Tuesday, it would officially mark as the day that Tesla has finally met its match in the premium battery cars segment. The Model X has a range of 237 miles.

A flashy reveal before legions of automotive journalists; The debut of the Mercedes EQC looks just like most others at first glance.

We won't know about the interior warmth until its late 2019 delivery for model year 2020.

To show how serious the company is on its shift to EVs, Mercedes will spend 1 billion euros on battery production to create a network of eight facilities globally.

The German automaker unveiled the all-electric Audi PB18 e-tron that's broad and flat, visibly inspired by the wind tunnel and the race track.

Jaguar Land Rover has also introduced its first all-electric auto, the I-Pace.
