Children among five found dead at home in Perth, Australia

A 24-year-old man has been charged with five counts of murder after two-year-old twin girls, their three-year-old sister, mother and grandmother were found dead in a Perth home.

"The man now assisting police remains in custody, no charges have been laid at this time".

"Attending Police discovered the deceased bodies of up to five persons including children", the statement said.

A MAN has surrendered himself at a regional WA police station this morning, revealing a killing spree at a home in the Perth suburb of Bedford.

WA Police Assistant Commissioner Paul Steel confirmed the tragic news in a press conference at 5pm AEST. "It does send a ripple through the community of Western Australia".

It's believed the man was known to the victims, although police have not confirmed this.

The police also stated that "there are no on-going concerns for public safety as a result of this incident".

At the home, they discovered the deceased bodies of up to five people, including children.

Assistant Commissioner Steel said officers were still working to determine the timeline of what happened.

"It's so calm, so quiet, that something so tragic has taken place is just horrific on every level", she told reporters.

Homicide detectives are investigating the deaths and both Coode Street and adjoining Fort Street remained locked down last night as forensic officers examined the property.

No charges have been laid yet and it is unclear whether the man is related to the victims.

"They were a ideal family. this is a lovely neighbourhood, it's quiet", Alfie said.

"This is a tragic event and will have an impact on family and friends, the community, and the emergency services who first responded to the tragic scene".

"She was such a attractive person and such a go getter and hard worker", she said.

The deaths of Katrina Miles, her parents Cynda and Peter, and children Taye, Rylan, Arye and Kadyn, were described as Australia's worst mass shooting since the Port Arthur massacre.

A mother and her two young children were murdered in July in the Perth suburb of Ellenbrook.
