But she said yesterday that the Texas Rangers, who have taken over the investigation, asked her department to hold off because they had learned new information and wanted to investigate further before a warrant was issued.

On September 6, 2018 at about 9:59 p.m., an off duty Dallas Police officer called police dispatch and said she was involved in a shooting at the apartments located at 1210 S. Lamar.

"We are totally committed to getting to the bottom of this situation", Hall said Saturday while taking questions about the shooting during a leadership summit at Paul Quinn College.

Hall said the officer's blood was drawn to be tested for drugs and alcohol. Dallas Police Chief Renee Hall said on Friday that authorities were preparing a warrant to arrest Guyger on a manslaughter charge, but that was postponed when the investigation was handed over to the Texas Rangers.

An attorney for Jean's family has insisted that the officer be charged and treated like any other member of society.

According to an affidavit in the case filed against Perez, police were looking for a suspect when Ms Guyger and another officer were called to assist a third.

The shooting took place Thursday night at the South Side Flats.

Dallas police had said previously that it's believed Guyger mistakenly went to Jean's apartment, thinking it was her own, but that's a story that has sparked outrage and disbelief on the Internet and also from Jean's family.

Two women who live on the second floor near where the shooting happened said they heard a lot of noise late Thursday. The apartment complex is just a few blocks from Dallas' police headquarters. She was expected to post a $300,000 bond and be released. "At some point she fired her weapon striking the victim", CNN wrote, quoting the chief.

Guyger also shot another man past year, according to court documents. Hall did not say why the officer opened fire and declined to discuss what she may have been doing before she returned home after working a full shift Thursday.

As a result of the information above, an arrest warrant is being obtained for the officer involved in this incident.

"This is a awful tragedy", the company said in a statement. He was listed on LinkedIn as a risk assurance experienced associate. Such questions are being raised by Jean's family and attorney.

Dallas Mayor Mike Rawlings said Saturday that he had talked to Jean's family and to St. Lucia's prime minister to apologize for the young man's death. We understand the concerns of the community.
