Saudis considering plan to admit that Khashoggi was killed in consulate

Trump's earlier Monday said that "rogue killers" could be behind the death, comments that came after a telephone conversation with King Salman, father of the crown prince, the first such talks since the crisis erupted.

"Canada remains very troubled by the disappearance of prominent Saudi journalist Jamal Khashoggi".

Mr. Trump said he did not want to get into what was in King Salman's mind.

A Saudi delegation had entered the consulate one hour before the Turkish police arrived and appeared still to be inside as the search was conducted.

Media reported that Turkish investigators believe the journalist was murdered inside the consulate, but Saudi Arabia claims that Khashoggi went missing after he left the building.

There was also a suggestion they had meant to abduct Khashoggi and take him to Saudi Arabia.

Pompeo was greeted at the airport by officials including Saudi ambassador to Washington, Prince Khaled bin Salman.

Iran has lost some customers for its oil because of looming USA sanctions, but high prices are making up for the lost sales, Iranian Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri has said.

Azzam Tamimi, an Islamist friend of Khashoggi, called the "rogue" theory "disastrous" for the credibility of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.

Protesters shine torches, lights onto the Sydney Opera House
My intention was to deal with the issue, about which I feel very passionately, and not to bully or demean Louise Herron ". The top comment on the page states "Sydney should not be hostage to Alan Jones and the gambling establishments".

Trump had dispatched Pompeo to speak to the monarch of the world's top oil exporter over Khashoggi's disappearance.

Khashoggi meets Hatice Cengiz, a 36-year-old Turkish Ph.D. student, at a conference in Istanbul and she soon becomes his fiancée. Prince Khalid is the crown prince's younger brother. Virgin Atlantic, which operates flights between Dubai and London but will withdraw the service from March 31, 2019, did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

Washington's clubby diplomatic and lobbying worlds have been rived by the Khashoggi case. Their actions followed a similar move by the Harbour Group last week. Khashoggi worked closely on media initiatives with Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, the billionaire businessman detained in the November roundup of dozens of influential business executives and ruling-family members by MBS.

The Saudi energy minister circulated a statement Monday reminding Washington journalists that the kingdom had long served as the world's energy "shock absorber". Several organisations and individuals have announced that they will not attend the mega summit in Saudi Arabia as a mark of protest.

Saudi Arabia is considering an admission that journalist Jamal Khashoggi died during an interrogation that went wrong, U.S. media reported on Monday (Oct 15). The evidence never surfaced, however, and the claims stopped after a sudden increase in high-level diplomatic contacts between Turkey and Saudi Arabia. That potentially offers the USA -allied kingdom a possible path out of a global diplomatic firestorm.

October 9: Cengiz writes an op-ed in Washington Post, saying her husband-to-be had applied for USA citizenship and that his reason for visiting Turkey was to take care of all necessary paperwork for them to marry before he returned to Washington. "Think of that, $110 billion". The kingdom could tame oil prices if they were to hit $100 per barrel as some analysts have forecast with the onset of USA sanctions against Iran on November 4.

Trump said Pompeo may go to Turkey after Saudi Arabia. The Saudis hit Canada with a series of economic retaliatory measures.

"Pelosi also cited Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin's planned trip to a financial conference in Riyadh, despite many having pulled out, and added, "[Trump's] relationship with Saudi Arabia is something". The uncertainty regarding Mr Khashoggi's fate has also led to a number of business executives like Virgin's Richard Branson and JP Morgan's Jamie Dimon as well as media partners withdrawing from an upcoming investment conference in Riyadh this month. Prince Mohammed told Reuters previous year that Blackstone and BlackRock Inc were planning to open offices in the kingdom.
