Denver Broncos Cut Chad Kelly After Bizarre Arrest

Chad Kelly was released by the team on Wednesday, less than an hour after the backup quarterback made a court appearance related to a charge of first-degree criminal trespass, the team announced. "After reviewing all the information and in talking with [head coach Vance Joseph] and [CEO Joe Ellis], we agreed that releasing Chad was the right thing to do". Kelly reportedly dressed as a cowboy, stumbled into someone's house, sat down on their couch, "mumbled incoherently" and then got hit with a vacuum tube.

Kelly appeared in court Wednesday morning, and he has another court date set for November 8. An occupant at the residence chased the man out, and a search ensued.

The Chad Kelly fiasco has been yet another embarrassment in a long line of disappointments for the Denver Broncos over recent years. "A short time later, a male matching the description by the homeowner, was located inside a black sport utility vehicle, in the area of Gothic Theatre", the statement continued. He was later booked at the Arapahoe County Jail but has since been released, Arapahoe County Sheriff's Office spokesperson Audry LaCrone confirmed.

According to a news release from the Englewood Police Department, Kelly, 24, was taken into custody after law enforcement received a call about a male standing outside a residence.

Trump recalled that he was in Rome at the time of the incident, and he shared his initial thoughts: "This was bad ". President Donald Trump sparked anger on social media after he praised a GOP congressman's assault of a reporter.

Broncos GM John Elway met with Kelly following the incident and ultimately chose to release him Wednesday morning.

The nephew of Hall of Fame quarterback Jim Kelly, Chad will now be subject to the NFL's waiver wire.

Kelly's spectacular college career at Ole Miss was marked by off-field slip-ups, although he hadn't been in any trouble since the Broncos drafted him. He was dismissed from Clemson in April 2014 for conduct detrimental to the program.
