Storm packing snow, sleet, freezing rain to hit Philly area Thursday morning

Flash flooding will be possible in urban and low lying areas.

While no major accumulations of snow are expected in the area, the cold wet conditions in the upcoming forecast can make for some less than ideal driving conditions.

John Hammond, chief meteorologist for Weathertrending, told The Sun: 'This week's balmy southerly winds are set to be replaced by chilly easterlies by early next week - more like Moscow than the Med.

If models predicting colder temperatures Thursday morning prove to be prescient, "Some areas could see a quick thump of snow with several inches, even along I-95", forecasters wrote.

This snow should taper off to an end later this afternoon. "Two-day rain totals should range from 1-2" with most of the rain falling on Monday. First, bringing us rain before temperatures drop.

'But there is a strong indication as we head into the following week and the latter half of November that it will start to cool down somewhat.

The snow showers could linger into Wednesday morning, then we expect a warmer and drier day on Thursday with highs around 40°.

Then, the precipitation is expected to turn to rain by midday, and it could be heavy at times. A low-pressure system is expected to overtake the region by early Thursday morning. Wind chills in the upper-20s and low-30s will be the norm.
