Nearly 3,000 Votes Are Missing in the Florida Recount

It's time for Nelson "to respect the will of the voters and graciously bring this process to an end rather than proceed with yet another count of the votes - which will yield the same result and bring more embarrassment to the state that we both love and have served, " the governor's statement said.

Gillum posted a live video on Facebook on Saturday afternoon congratulating DeSantis.

Mr Gillum, who hoped to be Florida's first black governor, congratulated Ron DeSantis in a tweet, 10 days after he first conceded the 6 November election.

The race between DeSantis, who resigned from Congress earlier this year to run, and Gillum, the mayor of Tallahassee, was an extraordinarily bitter one. "This was about creating the kind of change in this state that really allows the voices of everyday people to show up again in our government".

Adds Gillum, "This fight for Florida continues and I just wanted to thank you all for being along with us for at least this part of the journey, but the journey continues".

Gillum initially conceded on election night, but later withdrew his concession after the margin between him and DeSantis narrowed during a recount. The machine recount had DeSantis still leading by over 3,000 votes. It will involve only that fraction of ballots in which voters either cast two votes for one race, which is called an overvote, or no candidate, or an undervote.

DeSantis said on Twitter, "This was a hard-fought campaign".

Bobbitt is in custody in Philadelphia and the process of extraditing him to New Jersey is now underway, according to Coffina. The charges come months after Bobbitt sued McClure and D'Amico, accusing them of withholding the money raised on his behalf.

A frequent critic of Gillum, President Donald Trump, had positive things to say about the Democratic runner-up on Saturday.

A hand recount in the Senate race does not review all votes that were cast.

Counties were ordered this past weekend to conduct a machine recount of three statewide races because the margins were so tight.

The race had gone to a recount, with results due by a Sunday deadline, as has a narrow Senate race between outgoing governor Rick Scott and incumbent Democrat Bill Nelson.

"The ballots are in the building, " Snipes tells members of the canvassing board responsible for doing the hand recount.

The drama of counties across the state recounting ballots brought back memories of Florida's 2000 presidential recount.

A recount has also been ordered in Florida's Senate race.
