America's Thanksgiving Parade presented by Art Van will get most of Thursday's sunshine. In fact, the air will be SO cold on Thanksgiving Day that many USA cities from Buffalo to Boston may see new record cold maximum temperatures set for Thanksgiving Day! That's almost 30 degrees below the typical high the city sees around this time of the year, CBS Boston says.

"Any snow squall that is able to develop will bring the potential for very brief heavy snow, whiteout conditions, strong winds, and slippery roads", the weather service says. Albany, N.Y., records a low of 5 degrees in 1972 with the next lowest almost a century earlier, 9 degrees on Nov. 30, 1876 (when Thanksgiving was celebrated on the last Thursday of November).

According to Accuweather senior meteorologist Alex Sosnowski, most of the coldest Thanksgiving's have "occurred during the mid-1800s to near the turn of the 20th century".

On Thursday night, the temperature will drop to about 9 degrees.

Burlington, Vermont, Albany, New York, and Providence, Rhode Island may also see record lows on the holiday, according to The Weather Channel.

This storm is expected to slide inland and take a fair amount of snow, 1 to 2 feet, into parts of the Rockies later today. The last several years have been relatively mild and closer to normal. The easterly winds will bring coastal showers onshore and push them inland, you have a 60% chance to see the rain. An arctic air mass will rush through the Northeast.
